When will the Indians accept it?

It is high time that India changed the way it looks upon America. It is true that after World War II, the power equation had tilted drastically in favor of America. For a prolonged period of over 50 years America ruled the world unchallenged. It was the super power in the true sense of the word. Politically; Economically; Culturally. Even with the history of less than 200 years, America thrived and dominated some of the oldest civilizations of the world confidently.

The world watched in stunned silence when Gorbachev stumbled and the Soviet Union broke away into bits and pieces. Probably at the time, America had not in is wildest dreams thought that it would also be thrown out of its supremacy. The 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center hit America fatally. And then the recession hit its economy time and again harder and harder.

The recessions of 2002 and 2008 broke the backbone of the American capitalistic society and by 2010 downfall has become visible. No longer a World Number One economically or politically, it is understandable that America is still dwelling in the shadows of its glorious past.

Now the big question – Why is India thinking that America is still a super power? Some of the Indians have not come to know that Indians have changed the status and stature. They think they are underdogs . The communists boycott the speech of Obama mistaking him to be the President of a super country. (Forgive them, they realize their follies after two decades and correction begins much later.)

Everyone has come to accept the fact that India is steadily rising to the status of a global provider. The very bail-out package President Obama presented to the government of India during his recent visit is proof enough for our economic capabilities. We must realize that today the entire world is listening intently to every word uttered by the Prime Minister of India. The key note of every economic contract is India. India has risen amongst the league of supreme powers. Right now, it looks like China is world number one, India is close behind on the second place and America in the third.

But when will we Indians accept that?We should ease out the baggage of yesteryears and embrace our destiny with respect and confidence.
